We had an excellent time performing at REANIMUSIC, the annual fundraising concert for the Canadian Nursing Students’ Association, at the Top Knight on Friday, October 7. We introduced a new Funk69 original called Funkable and threw in a couple of new funky covers. Thanks to Laurie Sarkadi on vocals and Jeff Norris on lead guitar for joining us on stage to perform a couple of funky tunes. The nursing students rock!

Funk69 @ the NWT SPCA Dog Ball 2011

We had an great time performing at the SPCA Dog Ball fundraiser on Saturday, August 13 at the Top Knight. The wonderful Jessica Heine opened the night with her vocal and acoustic guitar performance. Funk69 took the stage for a funky set. Then we brought on the big guns for the 2nd and 3rd sets – special guest performers Laurie Sarkadi, Jeff Norris, and Keith Shergold. The Yellowknife SPCA raised record amounts of money for their new building. Thanks to everyone for coming out and supporting this great cause!

Bossmare @ the Old Town Ramble & Ride Festival 2011

We had a blast playing at the 5th Annual Old Town Ramble & Ride festival on July 31 despite the rain. Bossmare is Adrienne Jones (my wonderful wife and a great singer), Al Udell (that’s me), and the lovely and talented Samm Merritt (she’s got killer harmonies!).

We had a great time playing the Ice Jam (annual Folk on the Rocks fundraiser) along with other Yellowknife bands The Dawgwoods and Erebus and Terror. Toronto’s alternative-rock-country band Elliott Brood was excellent.

It was a quick set and it was raining a bit but we had a good time playing at the 2010 Folk On The Rocks festival.

It was a bit cold in the castle but we had a blast playing our funky tunes nonetheless. That’s me on bass, the amazing Greg Nasogaluak on guitar, and the best damn drummer in the NWT, Kevin Dunbar.

Wow, Wake Up Hazel had a blast playing at the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre (NACC) Northern Performers Festival on Thursday, January 28. The place was packed and the acoustics were amazing! CBC recorded the performance but unfortunately we can’t give away or sell copies due to strict copyright regulations.

We had an awesome time playing at the 2009 Folk On The Rocks festival. The weather was incredible and the crowds were huge.

Wake Up Hazel had an excellent time opening for Colin James and his band at the eighth annual Festival of Trees on Saturday, November 29. What a wonderful opportunity to meet him! Colin James is a six-time Juno award-winning Canadian recording artist.
