Phonosonics @ Rifflandia 2017

September 17, 2017

We are honoured to be returning to Rifflandia this year! Check us out Sunday the 17th at Sugar Nightclub!

Phonosonics will be performing Sunday, September 17 @ midnight at Sugar Nightclub, located at 858 Yates Street, Victoria, BC.

Phonosonics is BC’s fastest-emerging Roots Reggae and Rocksteady outfit. Hailing from the island city of Victoria, the project is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist/producer S. Cleave (formerly of Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra) and features some of the island’s top reggae talent. This powerhouse group has performed in Victoria across BC, and is alumni for both the Victoria Ska and Reggae fest and Rifflandia. It features soulful harmonies and electrifying danceability in a reverent update of this vintage style. In 2017, Phonosonics released “Between Two Headphones/Dark-Haired Lady” a gritty-sweet, lo-fi twist on the classic Roots/Rocksteady sound. The single is available online and was pressed on limited-edition 7” vinyl available with select Canadian retailers and via mail-order. The single has hit #3 on Earshot’s National College Radio Charts, received a coveted “A” rating from Ska-boom.com and has been enjoying generous play in the US indie radio circuit. Phonosonics continues to be one of the hungriest and most aggressive perpetrators of Roots Reggae and Rocksteady in BC. Excited to return to Rifflandia, they are sure to dazzle you on stage this year.
